Umm Al Quwain
The Emirate of Umm Al Quwain stretches for 24 kilometres of the Arab Gulf coast between the Emirate of Sharjah westwards and the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah eastwards.
It extends inland for around 32 km. The area of the Emirate is around 777 km square, equal to 1% of the country's area exclusive of islands. The population of the Emirate was 49,159 as per December 2005 census figures.
The city of Umm Al Quwain is the capital of the Emirate. The city includes the place of residence of the Ruler, all government departments, companies, banks, shopping malls as well as the seaport, in addition to research and marine life centres.
Falj Al Mualla is located 50 km to the south east of the City of Umm Al Quwain, with a name derived of the Falj (water) flowing out of the ground or mountains. The water of this spring flows to the side of the valley, which makes the area fertile with fresh water which in turn encourages agricultural activities in this area.
Al Jazeerah Al Syniyah is located one kilometer away from the City of Umm Al Quwain with an area of 90 km square; this island is a reservation of gazelles, and marine birds, and it is abundant in mangrove trees.
Ras Al Khaimah
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is located along the coast of the Arab
Gulf for about 64 kilometres. It extends inland over 128 km, and has common mountainous borders with the Sultanate of Oman from South and North.
The Emirate has a number of islands in the Gulf, most importantly the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb. The Emirate has an area of 1684 square km, equal to 2.2% of the country's area exclusive of islands with a population of around 250,000 as per December 2005 census.
The city of Ras Al Khaimah is the capital of the Emirate, pided into two parts by Ras Al Khaimah Creek; the western part is known as the old Ras Al Khaimah and includes Ras Al Khaimah National Museum and many government departments; the eastern part is known as Al Nakheel and includes His Highness the Ruler's Court and many government department and corporate headquarters.
Both parts are connected by a huge bridge along the Creek to facilitate the movement between the two parts. The emirate has major areas such Khor Kwair Industrial Area, around 25 km northward; this area is famous for its main industries such as cement, stones and marble. It also includes the main export port which is Saqr Port.
Fujairah
The Emirate of Fujairah is the only emirate that is located along the Gulf
of Oman, with beaches extending to 90 km. The area of the Emirate is around 1165 square km, equal to 1.5% of the country's area exclusive of islands.
The population of Fujairah is around 125,698 as per December 2005 census figures. The city of Fujairah is the capital of the Emirate; it includes His Highness the Ruler's Court, government departments, organizations as well as companies.
The Fujairah Port has helped in the enhancement of trade activities and marine shipping, as well as Fujairah International Airport.
Fujairah has great tourist features as it has beaches alongside the seashore and high mountains adjacent to the seacoast, valleys and fascinating areas. Daba Al Fujairah is considered an important area within the Emirate, as it includes agricultural projects and livestock; fishing is also one of its popular activities.
Fujairah Village of Heritage next to Ain Madhab Park illustrates the traditional aspects of the life of past with all details such as traditional houses, utensils and tools used by our grandfathers, as well as irrigation methods moved by the bull and used in farms. Fujairah museum includes archeological collections that are 4500 old, discovered in the Emirate of Fujairah.
Known also as Osman Mosque, Al Bidya mosque is one of the most ancient mosques in the United Arab Emirates. It has a distinct architecture with four small domes over the roof of the mosque.
